Notes for Contributors

The editors seek stimulating articles that make an original contribution to industry research and practice. Inquiries about the suitability of topics may be directed to the editors.

The journal will be interdisciplinary in character and scholarly and professional in orientation. A clear and jargon-free writing style is required. Articles may take the form of:

  • scholarly articles, up to 5,000 words

  • memoirs, profiles, interviews, up to 3,000 words

  • review articles (but not book reviews), up to 3,000 words

  • opinion pieces or items of an informative character, 500–1,500 words

An invitation to submit an article is not an offer of publication, and any decision by the editors is final.

Style

  • Present your text in single-line-spaced 12 pt Times New Roman

  • use capitals for headings

  • do not use bold type, double or multiple character-spacing, or tab-spacing (but create tables if you need to)

  • grammar- and spell-check all copy (set Australian or British spelling)

  • Harvard-style referencing is acceptable, though not preferred (on referencing and general copy-editorial style, follow The Oxford Guide to Style by R.M. Ritter)

  • Refer to Burchfield’s editions of Fowler’s Modern English Usage by R.W. Burchfield for usage and to Oxford dictionaries for spelling.

To submit your contribution, please:

  1. Post a MS Word file on a CD-ROM or floppy disk plus a hard copy to Australian Scholarly Journals (PO Box 299 Kew Victoria 3101 Australia). Include, on the file and as hard copy, an abstract of less than 100 words and a biographical note of less than 50 words. Attach a cover sheet that gives the article’s working title, your name, institutional affiliation or professional status, and contact details.

  2. Email a copy of the file to each of the editors. The Journal of Publishing should be identified on any cover sheet and in the subject line of any email.
