Once a Country Practice: Macpherson + Kelley, Lawyers of Dandenong

Very few law firms are a hundred years old, and histories of firms are rarely told. But the lawyer and the legal practice are significant actors in our commercial and cultural history, and the story of the now large, expansive Dandenong law firm of Macpherson + Kelley perfectly illustrates a century of Australian history and development. The politically progressive, bookish Jeffrey Macpherson, this firm's founder, was, remarkably, Crites of Melbourne's 1890's radical paper The Champion.
